ABOUT AFSHAN TAFLER

I know what it’s like to live in constant survival mode — when every day feels like walking on eggshells, waiting for the next storm.

For years, my son’s struggles consumed our family. He’s Autistic, PDA, and lives with high anxiety and OCD. There were days when meltdowns would last for hours — holes in the walls, broken glass, endless nights without sleep. I cycled between rage, shame, and collapse, desperate to help him but feeling completely trapped and hopeless.

I loved my child deeply, but I didn’t know how to help either of us feel safe.

Everything began to change the day I discovered what was actually happening inside my nervous system — and learned how to work with it instead of against it.

I started noticing my body’s cues, calming my survival energy, and giving myself the safety I had never known how to create. Over time, the rage softened. I could stay grounded when my son was dysregulated. I could repair faster, feel hope again, and see my child not as a threat — but as my greatest teacher.

My life didn’t suddenly get easier — but I became different. I could finally be okay with my child, and with this life.

Now, as a trauma-informed, neuroscience-based Nervous System Resilience coach, I’ve helped hundreds of moms of high-needs kids make these same shifts — moving from chaos and burnout into calm, capacity, and resilience.

I’m trained in Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, and the Havening Techniques — along with many other mind-body modalities. But more than anything, I bring lived experience — and a deep belief that healing starts when you understand your nervous system and give it the safety it’s always needed.
